Make A Difference

Make a Difference

The Bridge Home is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. All donations are tax exempt. Tax identification #42-1252893.

Thank you for considering a partnership with The Bridge Home. It is only with your kindness and generosity that we can continue our mission to end the cycle of homelessness in our community. Your gifts of time, food, supplies, and donations are what keep our doors open to provide stability and a pathway forward in the lives of those most vulnerable.

Your gift will immediately provide meals, shelter, financial education, and care to men, women, and families experiencing and on the verge of homelessness in the Two Rivers Region.

CASH GIFTS

Cash — and cash equivalents such as checks and credit cards — immediately benefit the people we serve and is often the most convenient and easiest form of giving. Your donation is tax-deductible.

We are also listed on Amazon Smile!

GIFTS OF GRAIN

For farm operators, rather than selling grain and making a gift from the proceeds, directly gifting grain may provide more significant tax savings. To learn more about gifts of grain,
call us at 515-232-8075

Complete this form to make a gift of grain today!

REAL ESTATE

Real estate, such as a residence, farm, undeveloped land, vacation home, or commercial property can be donated as a current gift or a gift through your estate. It also may be given to finance a life income gift such as a charitable remainder trust. For more information,
please call 515-232-8075.

PLEDGES

Instead of paying the sum of your gift all at once, pledges allow you to pay the total over time. Terms for pledges are typically within five years. For more information, call 515-232-8075.

STOCKS / BONDS /
MUTUAL FUNDS

Gifts of stocks, bonds, or mutual funds may be donated as outright gifts or as a pledge payment. When you make a gift of securities, your income tax deduction is equal to the securities’ fair market value, and you may avoid capital gains taxes on the transfer. For more information, call 515-232-8075.

NEEDS LIST

While we welcome many food, clothing, and household donations, our needs vary month to month, and we have limited space for large or bulky items. Please call us at 515-232-8075 for any questions regarding donations.

Pantry

We have a regular schedule of faith groups who prepare most evening meals. However, during these uncertain times, our shelter clients are being housed in local motels. We much appreciate food items that can be prepared inside our clients’ motel rooms.

  • Canned goods
  • Coffee, tea bags, sugar
  • Microwavable meals
  • Salt and pepper

*We cannot accept food donations expired or beyond their Sell By, Best By, Use By, or any other utilization date.

Clothing

Due to our limited space, we are unable to accept most clothing donations. If you have clothing items to donate, please contact us at 515-232-8075. If we cannot accept your donation, we encourage you to contact our partner agency, Overflow Thrift Store. They accept a variety of items, including clothing and furniture. We provide our clients with vouchers to shop there for their specific needs.

Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any contributions made by their employees. If your company is eligible, request a matching gift form from your employer, send it signed with your gift, and we will do the rest!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

We are currently partnered with the Volunteer Center of Story County to collect volunteer information. To learn more about our current volunteer opportunities, please visit our VCSC partner site or call us at 515-232-8075

Our volunteers have done fantastic work in our community, including household repairs, cleaning, painting, and gardening. Thank you for your willingness to donate your time and energy to help bridge the gap!

CAREERS

We walk alongside those who have fallen on hard times to help them find hope and a home.

With a passion and mission to support the underserved, we navigate those less fortunate than us through the barriers they encounter. We strive to bridge the gap between homelessness and housing to ensure individuals and families have access to shelter, a support system, and hope for a pathway forward.

Located in Ames, Iowa, The Bridge Home has been helping people since 1985. We serve the Two Rivers Region, including five counties in central Iowa — Story, Marshall, Boone, Greene, and Hardin.

We are a group of committed, passionate problem solvers who support each other and work together as a team. We value our employees and work with them to achieve their individual goals as well as our organizational objectives. We work in a professional, family-centered atmosphere and always remember to laugh and celebrate our successes.

As demand for our services continues to rise, so does our need for motivated, compassionate professionals to join our family.
