ongoing needs
We accept in-kind donations of food, hygiene products, cleaning supplies, socks, underwear, and more year-round. We also accept larger items like mattresses and dressers, but due to limited space, please call ahead to arrange these donations. Your contributions make a meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve—thank you for your support!

ITEMS WE ACCEPT
pantRY
Everyone appreciates a stocked pantry. We cook alongside our shelter clients so they learn skills of preparing their own meals. Also, some of our shelter clients are being housed in local motels. We much appreciate food items that can be prepared inside our clients’ motel rooms.
- Canned goods
- Bottled water
- Coffee, tea bags, sugar
- Microwavable meals
- Salt, pepper and spices
- Cash and Gift Cards to local stores are greatly appreciated
SHELTER & HOUSING SUPPLIES
Our shelter always appreciates the following items:
- Bus tickets —either Cy-Ride, HIRTA or Marshalltown Transit Trip tickets
- Gas station gift cards
- Grocery gift cards
- Overflow Thrift Store gift cards
- Visa gift cards
- Cleaning products, garbage bags, laundry soap, paper towels, toilet paper
- Feminine hygiene products
- Shampoo, conditioner, body wash (full size and travel size), toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, lotion
ITEMS WE DO NOT ACCEPT
We are unable to accept certain items due to limited space or because they are not immediate needs for our clients. Those items include:
- Clothing

- Books
- Medical equipment
- TVs
- Electronics
- Home decor
- Movies
- Arts/crafts items
- Car seats
